Microsoft has released an update for KB5028166 Windows 10 build 19045.3208 (22H2) and 19044.3208 (21H2) as a preview for the upcoming versions. This update, available through the Stable Channel, focuses on security fixes, networking and authentication improvements, input changes, enhancements for Microsoft Defender for Endpoint, fixes for Registry issues, and other modifications previously provided as a preview with the KB5027293 update on June 27. A variety of security flaws are also fixed by the upgrade.

Resolution for a problem that affects scheduled monthly tasks, potentially causing them to not run on time during daylight savings time changes.
Resolution for an issue affecting registry settings under the Policies paths, preventing them from being deleted when the local temporary user policy file isn’t renamed during Group Policy processing.
The Desktop Window Manager (DWM) is now more reliable.
Fix for an issue with.msi files, ensuring minor updates are successfully deployed when distributed via the EnterpriseDesktopAppManagement configuration service provider (CSP).
Resolution for a problem that causes the Spooler service to stop working when printing from a specific workspace.
Resolution for an issue where the tib.sys driver fails to load when HyperVisor-protected Code Integrity (HVCI) is enabled.
Resolution for an issue with NCryptGetProperty() returning 0x1 instead of 0x20 when called with NCRYPT_KEY_TYPE_PROPERTY for machine keys.
Resolution for an issue affecting HKCUSoftwareMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionExplorerUser Shell Folders, allowing correct default permissions to be set and maintained for this directory path. Incorrect permissions can cause failures in the Start menu, search, and Azure Active Directory (Azure AD) authentication.

Enhancements to the Microsoft Pinyin Input Method Editor (IME) and various simplified Chinese fonts to support GB18030-2022. Microsoft Yahei, Simsun, and Dengxian fonts now allow entering and displaying characters from conformance level 1 or 2. The Simsun Ext-B font now supports Unicode Extensions E and F, meeting level 3 requirements.
Furthermore, Microsoft is also releasing the KB5028168 update for version 1809, increasing the build number to 17763.4645 and including additional fixes and improvements. Windows 10 1607 receives the KB5028169 update, raising the build version to 14393.6085 and addressing various issues. Lastly, Windows 10 1507 gets the KB5028186 update, which increases the version to build 10240.20048 and resolves a specific security problem.
To download the KB5028166 Windows 10 update, it will automatically install via the Stable Channel. However, you can manually trigger the update by going to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update and clicking the “Check for updates” button. From there, you can choose to install the optional update.
